KIZOMBA STORIES

DEL THOMPSON
I am totally addicted to the dance.
My first encounter with Kizomba was during a salsa weekend 2015. I heard this wonderful music coming from the other room, I instinctively knew I was going to learn..... About a year and a half

later, I attended a dance class run by Ruth and David Ferguson. I learnt the basic steps with Don Kar and I was hooked. From there I went onto the classic Tooting, where Richard and Manon were teaching

.

These days I get my Kizomba fix weekly at Chocolate Tuesday and attend monthly parties namely Drena and Diversao to name a few. Where my favourite DJ's: Miro kikola, Fofucho, Kindoki Paulo, Fabio Carimo and Blade,

I've found my happy place on a Kizomba dance floor somewhere in London.

My Kizomba journey started in August 21, I was shy a little and felt awkward, but it did not take long to relax into the classes, atmosphere, the teachers, but especially my fellow Kizomba dancers made my passion for Kizomba deepen.

I'm passionate about Kizomba because it make me feel happy, alive, its fun, and the people you meet are wonderful.

I'm at my happiest dancing Kizomba.

I started dancing salsa about 20 years ago but after 5 years I gave up for 14 years due to an injury. When dance started up again I returned to dance salsa and then a while after my salsa friends persuaded me to come to kizomba. That was approx 2 years ago now. I fell in love with the music and the style of dance. I did struggle initially (some might say I'm still struggling hehe) but I have definitely improved. I can safely say I am addicted to kizomba and salsa but then in my view  there are much worse things I could be addicted to hehe. There is nothing like the feeling of dancing and it is a great stress reliever for me & I forget everything when I dance. I also love the fact that there's always something new to learn and the friendly (for the most part) atnosphere in dance.
